O predstavi
“Moje življenje je zamujanje.” — Louise Nevelson
“V letu 2008 sem v muzeju De Young v San Franciscu
videla retrospektivno razstavo Louise Nevelson. Prevzela me je veličina
njenega dela, sestavljanje najdenih lesenih koščkov v izjemne
kompozicije zgodb. Hkrati me je presenetila njena življenjska zgodba –
po poti velikih umetnikov se je podala iz Amerike v Evropo, da bi našla
samo sebe, pri čemer je zapustila svojega sina in ga prepustila materi.
Pričela sem se spraševati, kako daleč se spuščajo
ženske umetnice danes, kakšne so njihove poti, kakšnim odrekanjem,
življenjskim pogojem so izpostavljene na dveh različnih kontinentih.
Podala sem se v intervjuje z umetnicami v Sloveniji in Ameriki ter
poskušala razstreti polja ljubezni, strasti, umetnosti, materinstva,
družine, osame, preživetja, želja. Zanimalo me je, kako lahko vse
skupaj prepletemo in spletemo ter se medtem še vedno smejimo?
In nastala je kompozicija, variacija ženskega
življenja, zgodba tebe, mene, nas, ki ne želi kritizirati, moralizirati
ali podučevati, temveč le odpirati, raziskovati pogled sistema
življenja. Ne zato, da bi dokončala stavek, ki sem ga nekoč začela,
temveč zato, da bi spletla novo poglavje in morda odpletla, razdrla še

The Performance
“My life is persistent latecoming.” - Louise Nevelson
“In 2008, I saw a retrospective exhibition of
Louise Nevelson in San Francisco's De Young museum. I was overwhelmed
by
grandeur of her work, the assembling of small found wood pieces into
amazing
story compositions. At the same time, I was surprised by was life story
–
following the path of great artists, she left America for Europe to
find
herself leaving her son to her mother.
I started to ask myself how far the women
artists go these days, what are their paths, what renouncements and
living
conditions they face at two different continents. I took interviews
with women
artists in Slovenia and America and tried to unveil the fields of love,
passion, art, motherhood, family, isolation, survival and desires. I
was
interested in how we can interlace and knit all together and still
laugh in the
meantime?
And what came out was a composition, variation
of women life, the story of you, me, us which has no intention to
criticise,
moralise or give a lesson, but rather reveal and explore a system of
life. Not
to finish the sentence I started long ago but to knit a new chapter and
possibly un-knit or undo another knot. ”

O režiserki
Barbara Kapelj Osredkar je samostojna ustvarjalka na področju kulture,
režiserka, scenografinja in kostumografinja. Njen multimedijski
projekt, 2. del trilogije Skrivni vrt: Ženska dela, obrobljanje,
vozljanje, pletenje, tkanje, je bil premierno uprizorjen decembra
2000 v Moderni galeriji v Ljubljani, ambientalno-gledališki spektakel A.D.
Anno demoni pa je našel svoje mesto na Ani Desetnici 2002. Kot
avtorica projekta Invivo se je predstavila v spremljevalnem
programu 10. festivala Mesto žensk v Ljubljani, avtorski gledališki
projekt “Gon” pa je premierno uprizorila aprila 2005 na Stari
pošti. Protagonistka Damjana Černe je bila v predstavi nagrajena za
igralsko kreacijo z Župančičevo nagrado. Na 13. festivalu Mesto žensk
je predstavila zvočno-prostorsko instalacijo Tvoja, ki jo je
dopolnila z Naša, gledališko-zvočno instalacijo na ploščadi
Slovenskega etnografskega muzeja v Ljubljani. V letu 2008 je sodelovala
pri postavitvi predstave LandEscape, Boathouse&Co.,
Garage Theatre, v San Franciscu, in 2009 s skupino Plathypus pri
predstavi Chateau en Suede, Exit Theatre, San Francisco.

The Director
Barbara Kapelj Osredkar is a freelance artist, a
director, as well as set and costume designer. Her multimedia project,
second
part of the trilogy Secret Garden: The Woman’s tasks: hemming,
knitting,
weaving, sewing was premiered in December 2000 at Ljubljana’s
Museum of
Modern Art, whilst the site-specific spectacle A.D. Anno Demoni was
presented at Ana Desetnica international street theatre festival in
2002. As the
author of the Invivo project she participated in the side-bar
programme
of the 10th City of Women festival in Ljubljana, whilst her
original
theatre project Drive was premiered in April 2005 at Stara
Pošta. The
protagonist Damjana Černe received for her acting accomplishment the
Župančič
Award. Kapelj Osredkar presented at the 13th City of Women
festival
the site-specific installation entitled Yours that she
complemented with Ours, a theatre and dance site-specific
installation
at the platform of the
Slovene Ethnographic Museum in Ljubljana. In 2008, she participated in
staging
the performance LandEscape, Boathouse&Co., Garage Theatre,
San
Francisco, and in 2009 collaborated with the Plathypus group in the
performance Chateau en Suede, Exit Theatre, San Francisco |

Zavod Masa
je neprofitna kulturna ustanova, ki so jo ustanovili vizualni umetniki
Žiga Kariž, Tobias Putrih in Boštjan Drinovec ter sodobna plesna
umetnica, koreografinja in performerka Nina Meško. Delovanje zavoda
temelji na razvoju sodobne vizualne umetnosti in izvajanju umetniških
projektov.
Od leta 2004 proizvaja Zavod tudi projekte z Dejanom Habichtom in Tanjo
Lazetič, sodeluje z Alenom Ožboltom, predstavlja svoje umetniške
produkcije na sejmih v Bologni in Madridu in sodeluje s številnimi
evropskimi galerijami in galerijami v New Yorku. V letu 2009 je
predstavo Knitting Barbare Kapelj Osredkar predstavil na
Fringe Festivalu v San Franciscu.

The Producer
Masa Institute is a non-profit cultural institution
founded by visual artists Žiga Kariž, Tobias Putrih and Boštjan
Drinovec,
together with the contemporary dance artist, choreographer and
performer Nina
Meško. The Institute's activity is based on the development of
contemporary
visual art and implementation of art projects.
Since 2004, the Masa Institute has also produced
projects with Dejan Habicht and Tanja Lazetić, as well as collaborates
with
Alen Ožbolt, presents its art productions at fairs in Bologna and
Madrid, and
collaborates with a number European and New York galleries. In 2009, it
presented the performance Knitting by Barbara Kapelj Osredkar
at San
Francisco Fringe Festival |
